Golf Competition

Revised 2010

1.  Event

a)  It is to be a stroke round U/12, 13 to play 9 holes; U/14, 15, 16,17, Opens to play 18 holes.

2.  Entrant

b)  Each school is permitted to enter TWO students in EACH of the following age groups U/12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, Opens.

c)  Each competitor MUST.

  • know the rules of golf
  • be able to correctly score a card
  • be correctly attired as directed by the host course
3.  Disputes

a)  Disputes and queries are to be submitted to the Convener who will ordinarily call upon the Professional for a ruling.

b)  Any decision regarding the disqualification of a competitor will be in the hands of the Convener.

c)  For a golf card to be acceptable, it MUST be scored in accordance with the rules of golf. That is to say it has to be:

  • legible
  • completely filled in
  • signed by BOTH the Marker and the Player

Please continue to draw this to the attention of all competitors and avoid disqualification.

4.  Countbacks

a)  In the event of a tie the count back will follow the rulings of the NSWGA. The count back follows the steps below until the tie is broken:

  • the last 9 holes on the card
  • the last 3 holes on the card
  • the previous 3 holes on the card progressively as required to obtain a result.
5.  Points

a)  A school will be awarded points according to the position a player finishes within his age group. 1st place will receive 12 points towards their school total down to 1 point being awarded for 12th place. Any players finishing outside the top 12 positions per age division will not receive any school points. A disqualified player will count as a competitor but will not receive points.

6.  Trophies

a)  Senior Shield will be awarded to the school accumulating the highest number of points, taking into account ALL players in the age groups U/17, Opens.

b)  Junior Shield will be awarded to the school accumulating the highest number of points, taking into account ALL players in the age groups U/12, 13, 14, 15, 16.

c)  The winning team and runners-up in each age group will receive Champions and Runners-up medals.

d)  The Champion boy from each age group will receive a medal.

e)  The boy returning the best score on the day (from ages U/14, 15, 16, 17, Opens) will receive medal.

7.  Caddies

a)  No competitor is allowed the assistance of advisors or caddies during competition.
